IBM Audiovation Adapter
The IBM Audiovation Adapter is an Mwave ISA card released by IBM in 1994. It is designed primarily to work with Windows and OS/2 operating systems and combines both telephony (e.g. modem) and sound card capabilities on a single board. It provides Adlib or Sound Blaster compatible capabilites for DOS games, however the game needs to be run from a Windows DOS session. The board is MIDI compatible and includes a software synthesizer by Prosonus for General MIDI patches. The Mwave DSP chip also supports QSound to provide a psuedo surround sound effect using only 2 speakers. An IDE CD-ROM interface is available on the board and a microphone, headset, and audio cables are included in the package.
