Atari Illustrated
- Overview
- Games
Beginning in 1981 Atari replaced the original text only labels
with illustrated labels. The boxes are essentially the same, however the cartridge label removes the thin
border and includes the same illustration used on the box. While the boxes continued to use different colored
borders with white text, the label uses a black border with colored text. This style of label
is the most common for Atari 2600 games and many games that were initially released with text labels also
were re-released with illustrated labels. Later boxes with this style moved the game title below an Atari logo with a reduced
font size.
