Beginning in the 1970's, many home computers allowed the use of a cassette tape for storing and loading data. They
offered an economical way of storing large (for the time) programs or data. Users would need to manually start
and stop the cassette player while the computer read the data. In some cases, games that were released on cassette
included versions for two or more different systems on a single cassette; in this case users would need to forward or rewind
the cassette to a certain point first in order for the computer to load the correct version of the program.
By the early 1980's use of cassette tapes began to decline as floppy disk drives became available and
more affordable.
