The Commodore 128 could be connected to either a composite monitor or t.v. (40-column), or a digital RGBi monitor (80-column). The display capabilities available depended on which monitor was in use. With a composite monitor or t.v., 40-columns of text were possible along with all of the graphical capabilities of the Commodore 64.
Some monitors, such as the Commodore 1902, accepted both composite and digital inputs and allowed the user to switch between the two making all of the Commodore 128's display capabilities available.
