Disney Sound Source is part of the category Sound Hardware Supported.
The Disney Sound Source is an inexpensive sound device released by Disney Software in 1991.
It consisted of a dongle that connected to a parallel port along with a seperate box containing
a speaker and volume control which was powered by a 9 volt battery. The Sound Source is a variation of the
Covox Speech Thing and has similar
capabilities; It features a DAC for playback of 8-bit digitized sounds at a 7 kHz sampling rate. The Sound Source
had some improvements over the Speech Thing such as the ability to buffer a small amount of sound and it could
pass through the printer port allowing it to be connected at the same time as a printer in a single port.
