Overview
Tapeworm is an action game for the Memotech MTX released by Continental Software Ltd. in 1984. Similar to the arcade game Nibbler, the goal is to guide a tapeworm through a maze and eat all of the pips without crashing into walls or the tapeworm itself.
The game screen consists of a simple maze filled with pips; players control the titular tapeworm which is constantly moving. The tapeworm begins each turn at a short length, and has players eat the pips the tapeworm will grow. If the tapeworm collides with a wall or it's own tail, a life is lost and the current level will need to be restarted. When all of the pips are eaten, 750 bonus points are awarded and the game proceeds to the next level. From time to time, cherries will appear in the middle of the maze; eating these before they disapper will award additional bonus points. Players begin the game with 3 lives, and there are 9 levels in total (all of the levels have the same layout, however on the more difficult levels the tapeworm will grow in length faster). Players can also select any of the 9 levels as their starting point.
