Overview

Trick Shot is a pool game released by Imagic in 1982 for the Atari 2600. The game can be played by one or two players and includes several types of games. To play the game, players use the joystick to move a cursor which aims the cue ball; pressing and holding the button will hit the cue ball towards the cursor. The amount of power the cue ball is hit with depends on how long the button is held down; pressing it very quickly is a light shot while holding it for up to five seconds applies the maximum amount of power. Fancier shots are also possible by applying "English" (spin) to the cue ball by moving the joystick while the cue ball is hit. The game options included with Trick Shot are:

  • Trick Shot: A game for one or two players. There are nine combinations of balls presented with the goal being to sink all of the balls with a single shot. The player with the highest score wins with 37 points being a perfect score.
  • Pool: A game for one or two players where the objective is to sink all of the balls on the table. The first player to reach 25 points wins.
  • English Billiards: A game for two players only, English Billiards only utilizes three balls (two cue balls and a red ball). Points can be earned by sinking your opponents cue ball or the red ball, and the first player to reach 50 points wins.
  • Trick Shot Practice: Allows players to practice specific challenges from the Trick Shot mode.
The game keeps track of points earned by each player at the top of the screen and displays a trophy next to the winning player when the game is over.
