Platform: | IBM PC/Compatibles |
Display Type: | CGA with composite monitor |
Notes: | Original version |
Like Maniac Mansion, the original IBM PC release of Zak McKracken included support for CGA composite graphics.
However, it seemed that Lucasfilm Games either didn't fully understand how CGA's composite graphics worked or they
didn't put much effort into them. CGA composite graphics had a color palette available that offered more varied colors and also was reasonably close to if not exactly the same as the 16 RGBi colors used by other video modes such as EGA or Tandy, however
Zak McKracken did not take advantage of this. While the
graphics are clear enough to play the game, the colors used often don't match the EGA/Tandy RGBi colors and are sometimes nonsensical.
