Swordquest Series
Swordquest is a series of action/adventure games for the Atari 2600 released in the early 1980's. Each game in the series included a comic book produced by DC Comics which explained the game's plot as well as included clues for solving puzzles. The series was intended to consist of four games based around the themes earth, fire, water, and air; the first three games were released with the planned fourth game in the series, Swordquest: AirWorld, never completed.
As part of the series Atari had a contest centered around the games with the final prize being worth $150,000. The contest, like the games, was never completed due to the financial troubles Atari had related to the video game crash in 1983. Of the four planned competitions, only the first two took place.
