Overview
Links 386 CD is an enhanced version of Links 386 Pro
released by Access Software in 1995.
Like its predecessor, Links 386 CD features realistic physics, detailed graphics, and digitized sound effects to
accurately recreate the game of golf. It maintains the same gameplay and graphics from Links 386 Pro
while adding some new features that take advantage of the increased storage capacity of CD-ROMs. New features
include pre-rendered aerial fly-bys of each hole on the course with an audio commentary and new commentary from your
caddie voiced by comedian Bobcat Goldthwait.
Links 386 CD included two courses, the Harbour Town Golf Links located on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, (which was included with the original Links 386 Pro) and a second course, Banff Springs located in Alberta, Canada. Banff Springs had been previously released as an add-on course for previous Links games. Other championship courses were available seperately. While any of the add-on courses released were compatible with the game, some features, such as the aerial fly-bys of each hole, were only available with courses released on CD-ROM.
