Atari ST version of Twilight's Ransom

Twilight's Ransom is an interactive fiction game published by Paragon Software. The game takes place in the fictional metropolis of Liberty City; players take on the role of Ron Mulligan, an artist working for an advertising agency in the city. Ron's girlfriend Maria has been kidnapped at the start of the story; the goal of the game is to find out what the kidnappers want, locate Maria, and successfully rescue her (all within the 12 hour time limit). Along the way players encounter numerous dangers from the shady charactes who kidnapped Maria to random encounters on the city streets themselves.

Twilight's Ransom features a text interface similar to many interactive fiction games of the era; players type in simple sentences to move around in the game, talk with characters, pick up and use items, and examine the surroundings. Most of the game is text only; in some locations, a picture is also available to illustrate the scene, however viewing the pictures is optional and not required to progress through the game. Some versions of the game also support optional speech synthesis to read aloud all of the descriptions.
